This year Bedfringe will run over a record breaking 2 weeks. Events will take place at The Quarry Theatre and The Place Theatre. We’re so chuffed to be performing at our local arts festival! Come and see us play this weekend for free in the garden at The Quarry theatre. Fingers are crossed for some lush weather.
Cinder Well were incredible at Foster Hill Road Cemetery Chapel in Bedford. This venue sounds so good it’s unreal! We feel so lucky to have had the chance to use this magical space, isolated on the top of the hill.
Adrian Bean wrote a lovely review of the night. We’ve included a little excerpt:
“The chapel was an ideal place to perform plaintive melodies about death and loss. Multi-instrumentalist Amelia has an amazing voice, and the harmonies with Marit were as beautiful and haunting as anything that can ever have been heard in the chapel. Sad but joyous. Musicianship made to look easy. And to cap it all, they love graveyards.”
Thanks so much to everyone who attended, and listened, and sang along, and drank the bar dry!
Huge thanks to Ebb, Sue, Adrian and from Friends at Foster Hill Cemetery for all their help and to our good mate, Robbie for ushering people up the hill. Also thanks to Rachel and James at Made in Bedford at Number 13 for providing delicious vegan wraps!

Thanks so much to everyone who came out to deepest darkest Elstow to see Ewan McLennan at the sold out spooky old Moot Hall last night. Wasn’t he incredible? Davypoo was magical as the support. Davy also made a film of Ewan performing Corrie Doon for the Hey Ho! podcast. We can’t wait to share it with you.
We hope to see you all again soon. Marisa, Jack and Davy the hosts of Hey Ho! Folk, are on all the usual social media platforms and we’d love to hear from you x
Hey! Don’t worry, we’re not marketing a new Fyre Festival with this mysterious orange square. We are changing the name of our folk club and moving to a new venue. Cor!

COMING UP IN 2019
Cohen Braithewaite Kilcoyne Saturday 19th January at Moot Hall The perfect way to shake off the post Christmas blues! Cohen took to squeezeboxes in his teens and has since developed into a fine player of both the melodeon and anglo concertina.
His charming solo repertoire consists mainly of traditional songs, tunes and the occasional un-accompanied song. Expect ballads, industrial songs, sea songs and shanties all firmly rooted in the English tradition, with a fair amount of material linked to the West Midlands where Cohen has lived for much of his life.
Support comes from Marisa Straccia. She is one of the organisers of Mill Race Folk and one third of folk trio, Marisa Jack and Davy. She’ll be singing traditional British songs on banjo and guitar.Tickets are only £10. Buy tickets now>>>
Ewan McLennan. Saturday 9th March at Moot Hall Ewan’s last gig with Mill Race Folk was cancelled due to snow! We have finally managed to get him back, and this time it will be at the incredibly beautiful Moot Hall in Elstow.
Ewan’s music has depth of feeling & sincerity. Whether singing haunting traditional Scottish ballads or weaving the powerful stories that make up his own songs, Ewan’s unique, moving and earthy voice is always compelling. His guitar playing is outstanding and forms an essential part of his music. Ewan’s project, entitled Breaking the Spell of Loneliness, was a collaborative tour and album with renowned author and journalist George Monbiot, seeking to use music and word to open up the issue of loneliness and community.
Support comes from Davy Willis. He is one of the organisers of Mill Race Folk and one third of folk trio, Marisa Jack and Davy. He’ll be singing traditional British songs on guitar.Tickets are only £10. Buy tickets now>>>
