John Kirkpatrick at Mill Race Folk

This is a big one for Mill Race Folk. We are really excited!

John Kirkpatrick is one of the most prolific figures on the English folk scene, and has established an enviable reputation as an instrumental virtuoso (melodeon, Anglo concertina and button accordion), as well as a leading interpreter of English folk music. During his long career he has played with Martin Carthy, Shirley Collins, Richard Thompson and Steeleye Span to name but a few. Support on the night comes from us lot, local trio Marisa Jack & Davy.

Tickets are only £12 and are available at The Place Theatre

Video of Daoíri Farrell

We can’t wait to support Daoíri Farrell next month.

He has just received three BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards nominations for Best Singer, Best Traditional Track and the Horizon Award for best newcomer. The award ceremony is at The Royal Albert Hall on 5th April, BUT he’s performing at Mill Race Folk at The Place Theatre in Bedford the night before on Tuesday 4th April. It’s going to be an extraordinary night of folk music. Don’t miss out!

Tickets are available online now and are only £12

Here’a a video of him performing ‘Creggan White Hare’. It is so beautiful, we’re on the verge of tears.

Davy’s Tree

Here are some photos of Davypoo hard at work, dressing the stage for a sold out Mill Race Folk event at The Place Theatre with Stick in the Wheel.

Davy fashioned a curious old tree from painted hessian sacking. He hung the trunk in the corner of the stage with twisting branches stretching outwards to the audience. Valdis Bulazs from The Place did a brilliant job at illuminating the beautiful ancient willow tree.

Davy is very thoughtful. He can create stunning performance spaces with magical little embellishments. Did you seen his handmade lampshades in the bar?

Our next event at The Place is on Tuesday 4th April 2017 with Daoiri Farrell. Support with MarisaJack&Davy. Tickets are available now.
